Two Poems about Tiny Things

The Ant

Today I am an ant.

Not my choice, either.

I didn’t ask for these sticks for legs.

I didn’t plan to work this hard.

I remove everything from the table

And clean up the remains,

So that not a crumb is left behind.

The Matchbox

There is this matchbox.

It’s been lying at the bottom of the drawer

since we moved here.

I don’t remember what’s inside.
