The Poetic Alphabet
A poet must
beware the
childish
dependence on
exotic words and redundant
figures of speech.
Gradation,
hyperbole,
irony, you get the picture.
Just
keep it simple and
logical.
Mind you,
no one says an occasional
oxymoron or
pun, or even a
quote will
ruin your poem. A random
synecdoche is fine, as long as you don’t lose
track of your
unique
voice and
your poetic
vision. That’s
what sets you apart - your
x-ray vision and your poetic
zest.
