I Will Follow You

I created this poem with Prezi using one of their ready-made templates. I was curious to see whether a business template can be used for poetry. The result is slightly strange:

Then I decided to create another version using the classical Prezi blank canvas:

The Red Sun

Red sun
Photo on Flickr by The Hidaway

His heart is red,
open for everyone to see.
He leaves red footprints
all over the sky
as he sinks into sleep.
One last flicker of fire
and he is gone,
invisible to us,
as he dreams his red dreams
at the bottom of the sea.
He wakes up, red,
the next morning.
He lights the sky
with his red love
and she stretches
her red-sleeved arms
to embrace him.

P.S. You can find out more about how this poem came to be if you read this post in my TEFL blog.

Stop Drilling

I thought I should start with something people seem to like already. I created this "Prezi poem" as a part of my Digital Storytelling course. Here is the original post on my TEFL blog.

About the poem... Let me quote myself here: "I live in a flat and two years ago one of my neighbours decided to redecorate his flat. He kept drilling and knocking down walls. Finally, I learnt how to sleep through the noise, but the silence would always wake me up. The poem got completely out of control. It rebelled on me and decided to turn itself into something completely different. Time you people saw my dark side."

Welcome to Summer Blues.

Hello and thanks for stopping by. My name is Natasa Bozic Grojic and I am a teacher of English as a foreign language from Belgrade, Serbia. If you are an EFL teacher like me, you might want to visit my other blog. There I write about TEFL and technology.

In my free time I am a bit of a poet. Even as a little girl I had an obsessive need to tell and retell stories. Back then, I used to make up fairy tales with my father. I don't know how old I was when I started writing poetry. I wrote poetry, on and off, for most of my life. I burned most of it because I was never happy with my poems. Those which passed my initial censorship ended up in a drawer. Then the drawer was upgraded to a computer file. Apart from the members of my close family and a couple of chosen friends, no one ever saw my poems.

When I got interested in digital storytelling, I started publishing my poems in my TEFL blog from time to time. I experimented with different digital tools - Prezi, Animoto, Glogster... At first shyly, I started sharing what used to sit hidden in my computer files for years. And people liked it. Quite a few encouraged me to continue publishing them.

Writing is my hobby. It is more than that - it is a passion. This is the day of the amateur. You don't have to be Mozart or Shakespeare to get heard these days. That's why I have decided to start this blog. If you like poetry, have a look. If you like what you see, come and visit again. From time to time I will be experimenting with different digital storytelling tools and ways they can be used to present poetry. I don't promise to post regularly (I have never been a regular blogger), but I'll get here as often as I can.

You might be wondering why I named my blog Summer Blues. Well, the name somehow sounded right.

Your comments are always welcome.
